This case is entitled Zavala v. Takata Corp. It is pending in Los Angeles County Superior Court. This case is a class action where the plaintiff asserts claims against the defendants for violating two California statutes, the Consumer Legal Remedies Act (CLRA) and the Unfair Competition Law (UCL). Specifically, the plaintiff claims that the defendants falsely represented to automobile manufacturers and to consumers that Takata’s TK-52 and A7 series seatbelt buckles complied with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard for partial engagement when in fact, plaintiffs allege, the partial engagement test had been skipped. The defendants deny these allegations.
