Eric Barberio

Eric is President of the class action and mass tort administration business lines, including the core brands of KCC, Gilardi & Co. and RicePoint, a Computershare company. As subsidiaries of Computershare, a multi-billion dollar global financial and business service company, each brand provides unique and superior service to their clients and ultimately to the claimants they serve. Eric is responsible for the domestic and global growth of legal administration and support services in the class action and mass tort space, including strategy and operational delivery. Through the service brands, Computershare has handled thousands of cases serving millions of claimants and over $1 trillion in distributions in 2019.

Prior to joining Computershare, Eric was Vice President of Finance and Claims Operations at Paradigm, a large-scale national leader in workers compensation medical claims management. He was responsible for the financial and accounting operations, medical claims management and risk. Prior to that he was the Founder and Managing Partner of EBMI Management Consultants, a boutique consulting and professional services firm that focused on Fortune 1000 clients, including AutoNation, Tyco, Coinstar and Covidien, providing accounting and financial operation expertise, audit, technology and business process improvement services both domestically and globally.

Eric has over 20 years of experience in the areas of operations, accounting, information technology, compliance, and business process improvement in large and growing organizations. He was the interim CFO of Kemper Insurance’s largest division (now Broadspire) prior to moving into the management consulting industry. Over the course of eight years, Broadspire grew at a rate of over 50% per year during his tenure reaching roughly $800M in claims volume. Eric has written several articles on accounting, leadership, technology and process improvement lifecycles and he speaks regularly at corporations, universities and organizations, such as the FICPA and IMA. He is an advisor to Board of Directors in the areas of accounting operations and corporate governance.

He holds a Post Graduate degree from the University of Oxford (Said Business School) in Global Business and Finance; an MBA from Palm Beach Atlantic University; a BBA in Finance from Florida International University. He is also a Certified Management Accountant (CMA).

Peter Crudo

As Executive Vice President, Peter oversees all aspects of the strategic and administrative development for Gilardi. Peter brings a broad perspective to his executive role as he has worked both as an attorney in private practice and as a senior level management member in both private and public technology companies.

Peter has lectured on litigation and claims administration issues to international institutions and investors in both Europe and Asia. He has also appeared as an expert speaker before numerous government entities at both the Federal and State level, and has been a featured panelist at various Federal Judicial conferences and client firms.

Peter holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California at Berkeley, a Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and an LL.M in International Financial Law from the University of London, where he completed his thesis on The Legal and Ideological Foundation for Privatization in the Peoples’ Republic of China. Peter has also studied at the National University of Singapore. He is a board member of the Okizu Foundation, which serves children with cancer; the Salesian Boys and Girls Club of San Francisco and is active in numerous other organizations and charities within the Bay Area.

Michael Joaquin

In his role of Senior Vice President, Michael has managed dozens of securities settlement administrations and oversees the securities notice program. Previously, Michael was an attorney in private practice, focusing on representing companies in complex civil litigation, including antitrust and securities class actions. He brings a unique practical expertise to his role and has spoken as an industry expert at various national and international engagements, as well as at numerous client specific outings.

Michael received his Bachelor of Arts, with high honors, from the University of California at Santa Cruz, and was voted a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of California at Berkeley School of Law, where he was a member of the California Law Review.

Lara McDermott

Lara brings years of experience to her role as Executive Vice President of Compliance and Settlement Fund Accounting. She is responsible for strategic growth and guidance in both compliance and settlement fund accounting.

Throughout her years of experience, Lara has overseen more than 1000 settlement administrations, which have included some of the largest and most complex private settlements in history: Enron; UnitedHealth; Xerox; and AOL Time Warner. She has also appeared as a featured speaker before numerous federal government entities.

Lara graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics and Psychology, and holds a Masters of Applied Finance from Macquarie University, Australia, as well as a California C.P.A. License. Recently, Lara obtained a Certified Treasury Professional certification.

Mishka Ferguson

Mishka brings over 10 years of settlement administration experience to her role as Vice President. As Vice President of the Securities vertical, Mishka is responsible for overall day-to-day management of the securities processing, tasks and cases. Prior to her current role, Mishka held numerous roles within Gilardi, making her very knowledgeable of the settlement administration industry.

In addition to her role as Vice President, Mishka is currently the case manager for several open cases which are in various phases of notice, claims processing and distribution. These cases include many of Gilardi’s most sensitive and complex matters such as JP Morgan RMBS Settlement, Pfizer Securities Litigation, AIG 2008 Securities Litigation, Household International Securities Litigation, and DHB Industries Inc. Class Action and Restitution.

Daniel Burke

As Executive Vice President, Dan oversees the management of Gilardi’s  consumer and antitrust settlements. He has personally managed several hundred class action cases of all types and sizes.  Dan has appeared as an expert panelist, speaking on claims administration issues on numerous CLE panels, in front of various legal and government organizations, and internationally before multinational financial entities.

Prior to Gilardi, Dan served as a Deputy District Attorney in Alameda County for 14 years. He has tried more than 100 cases to verdict, including in excess of 40 jury trials. Before working as a prosecutor, he served as an extern for California Appellate Court Justice Timothy Reardon.

Dan received his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Santa Clara University and his Juris Doctor from Golden Gate University. He is an active member of the California State Bar. Dan has lectured on claims administration at numerous venues including California Judicial College and seminars held by the California District Attorneys’ Association.
